However, what is LED display in end?
Before we know completely what LED display is, we'd better know some basic parts first. Like: What is an LED, what is LED pixel, what is LED module, what is LED module, what is LED cabinet, etc? LED display is a new display media which using LED lamps to display the content. Each LED display is composed by a certain quantity of LED cabinets in line and columns, each LED cabinet is composed by a certain quantity of LED modules in line and columns, each LED module is composed by a certain quantity of LED pixel in line and columns, each LED pixel is composed by a certain quantity of LED lamps, each LED lamps is composed by a certain quantity of LED chip.
So the most basic smallest unit of the LED display is LED chip or LED lamps. So, let's start from the very beginning: concept of the LED, LED chip and LED lamp:
1.Concept or define of the LED chip: LED chip is a semiconductor which can converts electric energy into visible light. The chemical compound used within an LED determines its color, brightness and power efficiency.
2.Concept or define of LED lamps: LED is short for 3 words: Light Emitting Diode
According to the LED chip's encapsulation type, LED lamps have several different types, like:
SMD(Surface Mountinging Device), DIP(Dual In Line package),Dot matrix, etc.
Generally speacking the LED lamps come in two basic forms:SMD and DIP.
SMD LED display is more and more popular since the Advantages of perfect: color blending capability, no color shift at extreme angles, much wider viewing angle comparing to DIP. More important reason why SMD is more popular is the resolution of SMD LED display is much higher than DIP LED display. For example, the smallest pixel for DIP LED display is 10mm. However, the smallest pixel pitch for SMD LED display is 3.2mm which means 9 times resolution higher than DIP LED displays. Furthermore, the SMD LED display is more energy saving and cost is also lower than DIP LED display
Acoording to the SMD LED's encapsulation size, SMD LED can be classified to several models, like: 0606 SMD,0808 SMD,0909 SMD,1010 SMD,1515 SMD, 2020 SMD,2121 SMD,3528 SMD,1921 SMD,2525 SMD,2727 SMD,3535 SMD,5050 SMD etc
SMD 1921, 2525, 2727, 3535, 5050 is used for outdoor waterproof models, others is used for indoor non-waterproof models.

Black SMD is 50% lower brightness, but can be viewed more clearly under the sunshine because the contrast ratio is higher, gray grade is higher as you can see from the below 2 SMD white LED display and SMD Black LED display's actual comparison under the sunshine condition. LED display and Refresh Rate
What is the refresh rate for LED display?
The refresh rate of a LED display is the number of times in a second that the LED display hardware draws the data. This is distinct from the measure of frame rate in that the refresh rate for LED display includes the repeated drawing of identical frames, while frame rate measures how often a video source can feed an entire frame of new data to a display.
For example, most movie projectors advance from one frame to the next one 24 times each second. But each frame is illuminated two or three times before the next frame is projected using a shutter in front of its lamp. As a result, the movie projector runs at 24 frames per second, but has a 48 or 72 Hz refresh rate.
Increase refresh rate for decreasing LED display flickering
On LED display, increasing the refresh rate decreases flickering, thereby reducing eye strain. However, if a refresh rate is specified that is beyond what is recommended for the LED display, damage to the display can occur.
Normally our LED display of ERALED LED display have a refresh rate of over 300Hz, which is more than 5 times the refresh rate of a normal cathode television which is 50Hz (PAL and SECAM) or 60Hz (NTSC). For football stadiums (stadium LED display and perimeter LED display) our LED display can reach a refresh rate of over 800Hz, which means that they won´t show any flickering when recorded with a video camera and broadcasted live on television.

What is the life time for our LED display?
The life time for our LED display is over 100,000 hours, but it depends how the client is taking care of his LED display and how it is used. When a LED display´ life time will get to 100,000 hours, it means that the brightness of the LED´s of the LED display is about 50% of it´s original brightness, depending on several factors that will enlarge a LED display´s life time or reach 100,000 hours.

Maintenance is a very important factor, dusty environments require more often maintenance to the LED display than clean environments. The soldering of the LED chips can dry out and break which require changing often pieces like LED modules and receiving cards.
LED display Temperature
The temperature of the LED display is very important to keep it cool. In hot environments it is wise to install a cooling system inside the LED display to avoid overheating.
LED display Power Protection
Electrical peaks can put more force on the electrical components which will decrease life time. It is wise to install a protection that can control the peaks.
LED Chip Packaging
The LED chip packaging material is also a very important variable that will determine the lifetime of a LED display. For example iron has less life than cuprum LED packages. Besides iron is more corrosive than cuprum.
How much does a LED display or LED Display cost?
The price or cost of a LED display, LED Display or electronic billboard depends on two variables. Those two variables are the total size of the LED display, and the total resolution of the LED display.
The total size of the LED display: The bigger or larger the LED display the higher the cost. The prices are based on USD/sqm, which means that if the total size is 24sqm, the price will be 24 multiplied by the cost per sqm.
The total resolution of the Display: The more pixels, or the more number of LED´s, the Display has the higher the cost will be. For example if a Display is 12sqm and has 49,000 pixels, it will be cheaper if the LED display is 12sqm with 120,000 pixels. This is because more LED lamps will be placed onto the Display which is a higher cost. But on the other hand the more LED´s the Display has, the higher the detail will be of the videos and images that the LED display will be publishing.
Why LED display have different costs and prices?
Everything depends on the customers´ needs. Some customers want the public to see their LED display from a distance of 10 meters and further, and others from 20 meters and further. The more resolution/sqm a Display has the closer will be the viewing distance without loosing detail looking at the Display from closeby. For that we always need the client to answer us several questions to determine the right LED display size and resolution and come with the right proposal. Nothing is predetermined, but based on the needs of the client.
